Kissy Snake Interviews airbornegrove26: A Slithery Chat with the Man Behind the Give'em Lead
"Sometimes when you channel chaos, sometimes it bites back!"
*Kissy Snake coils around her microphone (a blackened femur, naturally), her golden eyes glinting like molten gold. She hisses, “Welcome, mortals, to a special edition of The Coiled Truth. Today, I have with me none other than the infamous Oldhammer blogger and hobbyist, Airbornegrove26! He’s here to share his dark wisdom on hero creation, Khorne’s glorious chaos, and the art of keeping Oldhammer alive in a world of shiny new plastic. So, Airborne, tell me—when did you first hear Khorne’s call to spill blood in his name?”
Airbornegrove26: “You could say it started with a love for skulls, brass armor, and barbaric splendor. I got into it during the HeroHammer days—4th edition Warhammer. Back then, it wasn’t just a game; it was a heavy metal album cover brought to life. Khorne wasn’t just a god; he was the god of raw, unbridled carnage. I’ve never looked back.”
Kissy Snake leans in, her tail tapping rhythmically. “Ah yes, HeroHammer—the golden age of bloated statlines and unstoppable characters. Tell me, what’s the secret to crafting a proper Chaos champion? One worthy of Khorne’s favor, of course.”
Airbornegrove26: “The key is balance. Not game balance—that’s for the weak—but thematic balance. Your champion needs a fatal flaw, something that makes them feel alive and tragic. Maybe they’re cursed by their own bloodlust, or they’re bound to the sword that gives them their power. But above all, they need a name that screams doom. Something like Bloodsword or Battlewrath—names that resonate like a war drum.”
Kissy Snake coils dramatically and hisses toward the camera: |
Kissy Snake flicks her tongue, clearly delighted. “Oh, Bloodsword—such a delightful name. Makes me want to bite something. Speaking of, how do you keep Oldhammer alive in your blogging and gaming? Surely the pull of new miniatures has tried to tempt you.”
Airbornegrove26: “ Oldhammer has grit. It’s not about perfectly sculpted models or streamlined rules; it’s about character, unpredictability, and the stories you create. Blogging helps me share that spirit. I want people to see a converted Chaos champion on the tabletop and imagine the battles they’ve fought, not just their point value.”
You respond with a smirk, waving Kissy Snake at the audience like a mascot "Power? You’re a glorified sock, Kissy. Now, let’s keep it professional. Khorne doesn’t like whining." |
Airbornegrove26: “Absolutely. Blogging can feel like a lonely hobby, but then you get a comment or a like from someone who shares your love for the old ways, and it’s worth it. Plus, it’s fun! Writing about Chaos Lords and their blood-soaked sagas isn’t exactly a chore. And then there’s you, Kissy Snake, adding chaos to my day—so it’s never dull.”
Kissy Snake grins wickedly, baring her fangs. “Flattery will get you everywhere, mortal. Now, back to Khorne. What do you think of modern interpretations of the Blood God? Are they worthy of the crimson throne, or have they diluted his glorious rage?”
Airbornegrove26: “It’s a mixed bag. The newer stuff can look amazing, but sometimes it feels too polished, too clean. Khorne isn’t supposed to be clean—he’s raw, brutal, and terrifying. I like my Khorne champions covered in scars, their armor dented and their weapons bloodstained. The rage shouldn’t just be in their rules; it should be in their very existence.”
Kissy Snake hisses approvingly. “Well said! Now, one final question. If you had to pick one hero you’ve created—one champion to lead your forces into battle against the armies of order—who would it be?”
Airbornegrove26: “That’s easy—Black Vasken wielding Bloodsword. He’s the epitome of Chaos undivided but leans hard into Khorne’s ethos. A knight corrupted by his own hubris, who fights not just for conquest but to feed the insatiable hunger of the blade itself. He’s tragic, he’s brutal, and he’s everything a Chaos champion should be.”
Kissy Snake coils tightly, her tail rattling like a war drum. “Black Vasken and Bloodsword—it does have a certain… poetry. Well, Airborne, this has been a delight. Any last words for our listeners?”
Airbornegrove26: “Keep your blades sharp, your paintbrushes loaded, and your Chaos champions worthy of the gods. And remember—blood for the Blood God!”
Kissy Snake raises her head high, her eyes blazing. “And skulls for the skull throne! That’s all for today’s episode of The Coiled Truth. I must slither off now. Until next time, mortals—keep the chaos alive!”
Kissy Snake, you should be running a podcast, you obviously know how to ask the questions that matter
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Airborne! I particularly like your use of the word ‘grit’ to describe Oldhammer. It’s the imperfections in life that make things quirky and fun. Polished is so boring!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Grove! Blood for the blood god, dice for the die god, and metal all around. :) Yes. Characters need balance. Games, not so much. But good characters need something to humanize them. And stories, like oysters, need grit.
