Holiday Hardwired

This year for the Holidays I had to travel to the backwater bayou's of Louisiana...Fortunately this didn't leave me to far from my good buddy Maj. Guiscard.  So we coordinated and got in a great day of gaming.  Stay tuned here and on his blog for awesome crossblog action.  Also don't forget my Holiday Blog give away here.

If you haven't been over to the good Major's blog let me share some of the cool stuff he has.

This game room is off the chain with cool toys

Totes excited to be hanging out!

We got in some Warcry

This Anchorage  is my favorite piece of terrain

The Hardwired game had this gorgeous setup!

The rebuilt Shelley after it was damaged at my house (in game narrative)

The Chaos Cruiser "The Murderer"...I think it looks like a dragon no matter what Guiscard says

How many 28mm Space Ships can one man have....
And now you are probably ready for the action!  This report sees Task Force Tomahawk's Elite Recon team covertly attacking a Secret 4th Reich Anchorage in hopes of stealing "The Star of the West" a top secret super ship. This game was a blast, action packed from start to finish with the right bit of in game tension to make it a memorable comic report.

I'm really starting to enjoy Hardwired.  Not sure if I will make a full jump tho or just take elements and use for other rule sets.  We shall see as it is the going to be used several times this year for certain meetups.  Stay tuned for more exciting action.

    2. Thanks StuntCat,
It was a nice convergence of events that Grove and I were able to put together a day.

  3. Really good battle report and some excellent models and terrain! It's good to see Hardwired being played too. I gave it a try a while back and thought that the three-dice mechanic was very effective. Great blog too, by the way!

    1. Much appreciated Toby! Welcome, and Glad you are enjoying it. Hardwired is a fun rule set, especially when you have a good GM hosting you. I'll go give your report a look as well. ;)

    2. Hi Toby,
Just commented on your blog on the batrep. Very well done.
I think HW is a great game to just throw down without having to explain too much to a gaming group to get started. I think I am going to make up some stock cards for the different types, because really, aside from some grenade choices, I think there is only one optimum build for each type (except Support, but that's just sub-dividing into which "Support" you want to have)

    3. That seems like a good idea too. I'll make some as well. ;) I almost forgot that we rolled all the dice for the heroes. I felt like it helped the game, but I need to reread the rules to see if that makes sense to keep doing.

  4. Brilliant battle report!

Toby's battle report using the same rules make for a great read too and Hardwired looks like it's got some fantastic mechanisms for playing a very 80's action movie sort of a game!

  6. Did you each run a 4 man team and double the number of enemy spawns or was there a different number of figs? Great report. Amazing to see the governor generals gaming lair.

    1. Actually he had me run a 5 man team as another guy was supposed to be there but didn’t show. So 5 man team and he spawned what seemed like a buncha enemies 😂.

    2. Just 1 team, and I was acting as GM.

      What Grove is leaving out,
As the sightlines opened up and almost all of the bad guys could get line of sight on his team, I was really worried we were headed for a TPK. But then, turn after turn he rolled an unbelievable number of saves. A 50/50 chance of failure each save and under a massive amount of fire he only failed one (maybe 2).

It was an amazing game in defiance of all the probabilities.

    3. But the nail biting excitement was conveyed...each turn felt like the end of the bridge battle in Saving Private Ryan where they are all falling back and bullets are whizzing all around them. One of the most exciting games I've played in awhile.

  7. Again, you manage to transform something otherwise boring (battle reports) into a thing I'm actually willing to check.

Awww the setup. I'd love to have a game like that.

Gotta check hardwired out. I have yet to try Reality's Edge which is 4 times more expensive so I hope at least it will be twice the fun hardwired looks so far.
