With the long weekend I was able to get some much needed hobby time. First up is Warcry's Mindstealer Sphiranx
The color choice was an easy one as I wanted to match my daughters warband of aetherwings and gryphounds.
My new paint style is to prime black and then dry brush white over to get a comic look to the figure. I then do a base coat of contrast. For this figure it was Gryph Charger Orange, and Ultramarine Blue.
Once all the base colors are on I wash and highlight as needed with mostly foundry colors and Gw Washes.
I'm really excited about the announcement of Warcry Catacombs coming out in the next few weeks/months and it has rekindled my itch to play.
I have yet to play through a full campaign yet and really look forward to that as well.
With all the terrain, warbands and a few allies painted up now I can probably schedule some Saturday morning gaming.
Next up some more Warcry goodness...stay tuned.
Great work on your sphynx
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave!
DeleteStunning work!
ReplyDeleteYour style is really vibrant and really brings out the best of the figures!
Thanks man really appreciate that. ;)
DeleteNice work! So many colours!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray...had to be bright. ;)
DeleteThe ultra-punchy comic colours work brilliantly on the Sphiranx, particularly that iridescent blue on the mane and face.
ReplyDeleteTHe blue and the orange works so well together. I have 3 more gryph-hounds to do and the warband should be complete. I've enjoyed every minute of it so far.
DeleteO yes, he she it fits in especially well with the rest of the team. Love it
ReplyDeleteI've been worried about how beefy the gryph-hounds are now I got to worry about a giant cat. HAHAHA
DeleteI have come back a few times to look at this one again, really great work, and the colors stand out so nicely on the table top. Not only do they stand out, but they are just so really well done, and suit this figure perfectly. Even with just the contrast paints it looks great, and then you took it further in a most pleasing (and lurid) way.
ReplyDeleteReally appreciate that Lasgunpacker. I've really figured out how to take the positive advantage of the contrast and meld it with my normal style. I'm just glad everyone else seems to like it as well. I have a few more hounds to do in the same scheme over the enxt week or two. Let me know what you think of those when they are done. ;)
