Let's talk Instantmold...just add water!

I first learned about Instantmold from Orlygg's post on Arcane Armorials.  I was having a bit of a dilemma as well.  I needed two more "like" Battlemasters chaos knight shields.  So I first tried to just make a mold out of greenstuff.  It worked OK but then I remembered reading that post.

So I rushed over to Coolminiornot and ordered a pack...WOW!

I thought I would try a base, a shield, and get bold and try a head.

The face turned out great.  The detail is great.  Obviously the back of the head will need some work, but it will be pretty easy to take care of.  Now I will never run out of heads for Schmendrick!!!  I might have a whole army of them one day.

Next is Space Worg on his new Instantmold base!  I'm going to have a lot of fun with these things.  Run don't walk and get a pack for yourself today.

  1. Nice. I've had my eye on the Instamold product for a while, especially for the Warhound Titan I'm building. This may put me over the line!

    1. Get some it is inexpensive and will pay for itself. Very useful, I have a lot planned with it.

  2. I use instant mould a lot to duplicate equipment for scenery. You could just as easily duplicate the whole head with all sides you know. Getting the original out of the mould would be a little trickier but still feasible. The cuts you do to get it out will mean flashes on th ecopy but you know how to get rid of flashes !

If it can be of any help :

  3. Agreed! very useful stuff...I've duplicated many a Marauder Dwarf shield with this product. Never as nice as an original but fine for the back rank! Two part molds are possible but a little more challenging.

  5. Two part molds actually work pretty well, just be prepared for flash and resist the temptation to "check" on it before the putty has cured.
