Dropping in for Tea

Well old Chap, hope the Jerries don't mind if we drop in for a spot of tea!

Time to clear the dropzones and push onto Johnny Frost!

We have to gather our supplies first.  Nothing get's us in a fighting mood like our Earl Grey and umbrellas.

Lt. Claymore and Sgt. Haggis lead us towards Arnhem with the comforting sounds of the pipes.

Cpl. Sharpe leads # 1 Section. Let's go lads I can here Johnny Frost's hunting horn.

With Sgt. Halberd supporting him with # 2 Section.  Only a mile to go!

Cpl. Longbow now in charge of #3 Section takes on a supporting role.  We can see the bridge lads, let's go!

Doc Poppins is ready to patch anyone up with a spoon full of sugar.

Sgt. Hastings brings up the Sappers to clear any obstacles at the bridges.  How about a hot breakfast from the flamethrower.

As we pushed towards Arnhem we found what was left of the Pathfinder Platoon.  Suprised at the crossroads by some dug in Jerries!

Some ideas of how to add in VC's for the boys.

Ideas for airdrops and glider drops.

  1. I just watched "Overlord" (2018).
It isn't *exactly* this stuff, but it is the right theatre and era.

These are lovely. Great work ABG!

  2. Great post! Great paint jobs on all the models too! What a fantastic fighting force. I really like the parachute models... super specific models, but they look so cool.

Now I want to watch a Bridge too Far...

    2. It used to be my “wrapping Christmas presents” movie. Something to watch for three hours while I wrap… then I got married and the wife wants to watch hallmark Xmas 24/7 lol

  3. Nice photos and painting. Just one nitpick - the berets should be more of a purple-red - the airborne aren't known as the "Maroon Mafia" for no reason! :)

    1. Tasmin...really appreciate the feedback. I went for a more pulp comic look was the only reason I went with the bolder red. ;)

  4. I remember you mentioning that these were in the pipeline a while back and wow, you did not disappoint! These look fantastic! Did you go nuts painting all that denison camo tho?
What rules are you going to play?

    1. I almost did. I broke it down tho and did one color at a time in batch painting, and then went back a started the process over till it was done. In the end it wasnt so bad. Not sure on rules. I have the old Battleground WW2 but will probably end up using a version of Donnybrook as that suits most of my historical needs.

    2. Very cool. Check out Chain of Command as well - I liked those rules very much the couple times I played. Far less video-game-ish than Bolt Action.

    1. No real plans at the moment. I'm sure a mash up of several different rules.
