Beneath the Lily Banner's: Regiments of Horse

Rawdon's forces begin to muster!

So that's 2 units of Horse finished!   Hugh Magill's Dragoons with Hugh Magill himself as a personality. As well as the 3rd squadron of Rawdon's Horse

I went with a drab uniform for Rawdon's dragoons using Foundry Granite and Forest Green for the cuffs.

Magill's dragoons I went with a red (foundry terracotta) uniform with green (forest green) cuffs.  Figuring they would be a bit more organized and had a chance to procure a fancier uniform.

Since these will most likely be on the field of battle with Clarence's armies I tried to match his basing style. A little different then my own but they really turned out nice.

With the banners added I got them out for a nice photo shoot on the terrain.

Hope you enjoyed the pics, and next up should be the other 2 squadrons of Rawdon's horse with Rawdon himself in the van.

  1. Are you using these for historical or imagi-nations?
I’m in process of setting up Inagi-nations using a bunch of AWI figs I bought from a friend.
I did a play test of Mighty Armies with some simple modifications that seemed to work for me.

    1. Historical as far as Clarence and Barry can get with their wonderful PDFs. My army is based around the Break at Dromore which you can find in the link at the beginning of the post. Imaginations are a lot of fun too tho.

    2. Historical-ish... Barry and my games bleed over into Imaginations quite often with 'what if' style scenarios and even campaigns.

    3. That’s what really drew me to the period. The what if’s are really thought out and make sense.

  2. Otherwise- looking good as usual....
Pardon the typo in my above comment.

    2. Sounds good. The years are a bit off tho. This is for 1690s Ireland.

  4. Airborne does historicals... The world is turning on it's head.

Good bunch of cavalry mate. Looking forward to seeing them in action!

    1. HaHa Thanks Dai. Though it's not my first foray into historicals. I've done my share of ACW, Napoleonic's, and Ancients over the years. ;)

    1. It's a fun one....and Clarence and Barry do a great job in presenting it. You should totally check it out.

    2. Oh, I already own it as an option for English Civil War. What I don't need is another period for which to buy models no one will game with me using.

  6. Nice change of your usual style. I see you've done historicals before, so do you find it hard to turn back to a more muted palette?

    1. Thanks Major. No not really. It’s easier when you don’t have to spend weeks thinking up the perfect wild color scheme. 🤪

  7. Really nice looking units. 17th and 18th century uniforms are fun to paint, at least I feel like they are. I had intended to do an Imaginations campaign, but then you know. Squirrel!

    1. Ya they are a lot of fun. Napoleonic French cavalry are probably still my favorite uniforms tho.
