The Cock of the North: The Break of Dromore pt. 1

Finally a Comic Report, but something a little different. ;)

I had a weekend game event at Lopez's we dubbed Violence in the Valley.  We were lucky enough to have Clarence over at Quindia Studios come up and run a pre-release scenario of Beneath the Lily Banners.

I really enjoy reading his and Barry Hilton's takes on wargaming, and the period.  Having never played the genre I was quite excited to learn from one of the co-authors.

Feel free to dive right in, or if you would like a little more background hop over and have a look here real quick.  Enjoy M8's!

James is not my King we must defend this village from the ravages of the Jacobites!

If you'd like to see how the battle went with a bit more about the rules and actions of each turn check out Clarence's report.

  2. Consider my appetite well and truly whetted (although I don't think Lopez is gonna be happy with that last pic of his head!)

    1. It's a lot of work, but well worth it imo, I really prefer Comic Life 1, over thenew one. It is easier and much quicker to use. Let me know if you need any help or have questions. ;)

  5. Great looking game. I can't wait to play Donnyhammer again, even though these are the straight up rules. As I read this "Follow me up to Carlow" by Planxty was playing in my head. No clue what war it's about. "Rooster of a fighting stock, would you let a Saxon cock, crow out upon an Irish rock? Fly up and teach him manners!" https://youtu.be/tvECtlJQ4dU

    1. Thanks Barry. I'm really hoping on developing his character and maybe extending his career past the historical point. I need to get my army started. ;)

  8. Wow, that's a great set of armies.

Love some Jacobite action. Grandparents used to live not far from Culloden and it's smashing museum. Eerie place to visit though. Made me almost start a Jacobites project (Though I know this one looks to be a later period than the Battle of Culloden.).

    Looking forward to part two!

    1. Thanks Dai.....I've been giving myself a crash course in the period all week. Clarence has been very helpful with any questions so far. I think I'm going to do Rawdon's force for myself, which can attach to any other Williamite force as needed. ;)

    2. This one is earlier than culloden by about 55 years
